Marcus wurde 1984 auf dem Rücksitz eines Trabis in Hoyerswerda geboren und wuchs halb in einem Plattenbau in Dresden halb auf dem Bauernhof seiner Großeltern auf. Er lernte Holz hacken, Schafe reiten, mit dem Luftgewehr schießen und half bei der Geburt von Kälbern. Heut passt er am Wochenende meist auf Schrödinger’s Katze auf und glaubt an Wunder.
Auf seinen Projekten ringsum den Globus hat er die wildesten Dinge erlebt, fuhr in alten Mercedes ein Wettrennen von Berlin bis Moskau, paddelte auf einem Floß den Mississippi runter, drehte mit namhaften Musikern und Influencern in Barcelona, Island und Bangkok.
Er nahm am Spitzenqualifikationsprogramm TP2 Talentpool teil, studierte Regie an der Deutschen Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin und führte Regie für Musikvideos, Commercials und Kurzfilme. Marcus’ Faible für fußballspielende Roboter und Dinge, die im Dunklen leuchten findet sich auch in seinen Arbeiten wieder. Seine geförderten und zahlreich preisgekrönten Kurzfilme ‚schwarzatmen‘, ‚Fliegen‘, ‚Liebesbrief‘ und ‚Q: Spukhafte Fernwirkung‘ liefen z.T. auf über 100 Festivals. Seit 2016 arbeitet er auf der Berlinale für den European Film Market. Seit 2020 ist er Jurymitglied auf dem SciFi Film Festival Berlin.

Marcus was born 1984 in Hoyerswerda on the backseat of a Trabi and grew up half in a prefabricated building in Dresden, half on his grandparents’ farm. He learned chopping wood, riding sheep, shooting the air rifle and helping give birth to calves. Today he usually takes care of Schrödinger’s cat at the weekend and believes in miracles.
He has experienced the wildest things on his projects around the globe, drove a race from Berlin to Moscow in old Mercedes, paddled down the Mississippi on a raft, shot with well-known musicians and influencers in Barcelona, Iceland and Bangkok.
He took part in the top qualification program TP2 Talent Pool, studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin and directed music videos, commercials and short films. Marcus’ soft spot for soccer-playing robots and things that glow in the dark can also be found in his work. Some of his sponsored and multi-award-winning short films ‚Breath dodging‘, ‚Flying‘, ‚Love note‘ and ‚Q: Ghostly remote effect‘ were shown at over 100 festivals. He is working for the European Film Market at the Berlinale since 2016. Since 2020 he has been a member of the jury at the SciFi Film Festival Berlin.
